Draycott and Rodney Stoke First School has wonderful grounds with views up to the Mendip Hills and over the Somerset Levels.
The playground has extensive play equipment including a tyre park, adventure trail, climbing wall, targets and hoops. These all allow the children to develop and improve their balance, mobility and accuracy skills. The children also organise a range of equipment to be used daily from our well-resourced PE store. Activities include tennis, hockey, skipping, football, ball skills, basketball and netball.
In one corner of the playground we have a forest school area, which is used to develop the children’s understanding of the world and time to explore with nature. There is a lovely wooden chair and bench area donated by the PTA which is an excellent place for quiet or group reading.
In the opposite corner we have recently created a garden area for children to learn about growing and harvesting crops. The children will be enjoying planting seeds, caring for plants, harvesting the fruit and vegetables and hopefully cooking or selling their produce.
