What will we be learning about?

• The fall of the Roman Empire and the subsequent invasion of Britain by the Anglo-Saxons
• The Viking invasions including the Viking raid at Lindisfarne
• The everyday lives of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings
• The Norman invasion of Britain 

Our Writing Focus

In English, we will start the term by writing instructions using 'How to Train your Dragon' as our stimulus. Then, we will move onto poetry, retelling and performing. Using a range of organisational devices, the children will also write their own playscript based on a dilemma of fictional Anglo-Saxon characters. Finally, we will explore Norse myths, creating a well-developed setting, characters and plot.
