Draycott Village

Close to Cheddar on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village of Draycott is listed in the Domesday Book and has probably been occupied since the Iron Age. The area is rightly famous for its strawberries – we’re surrounded by strawberry fields – and the disused ‘Strawberry Line‘ railway runs right through the village.

On our doorstep is Draycott Sleights, a site of special scientific interest and home to numerous species of butterfly, including Adonis Blue (Lysandra bellargus), Silver-studded Blue (Plebejus argus) and Small Blue (Cupido minimus).
